A good Monday Warrior Fans. The winter season has officially arrived as the girls’ basketball team opened their season last week and the remainder of our winter athletic & activity programs will begin competition this week. Friday, the Warriors will play host to Indianola in a Little Hawkeye Conference boy girl doubleheader. In conjunction with the game the Norwalk Athletic Booster Club has organized their first annual Winter Fest, a kickoff to the winter season with a number of activities. See below for Winter Fest information. In addition, KCCI TV 8, will be on site for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots annual campaign. The collection of toys begins at 6 PM with live KCCI remotes at the 5 PM & 6 PM newscasts. If you are able, please bring a toy donation to assist the Marines in this very worthy cause. The winner of the school that donates the most toys will be announced at halftime of the boy’s game.

Boys Basketball

The Warriors will open their season tomorrow night as they host the Ballard Bombers in a non-conference game before opening the conference schedule on Friday when they host Indianola.

Girls Basketball

Norwalk opened their season last week as they hosted the Tigers of ADM. Norwalk trailed after a very competitive 1st quarter 17-12 but were outscored in the next two quarters 33-18 and trailed 50-30 after three quarters of play. The Warriors however found a spark in the 4th qtr as they would outscore ADM 20-5 and cut the Tiger lead to four with over a minute remaining but could not overcome the early deficit as they fell 55-50. Sophomore Jo Jo Bice led Norwalk with 22 pts while Jr. Bren Moritz collected 17 pts and a team high eight rebounds. Norwalk will be back in action tomorrow as they host the Ballard Bombers at 6 PM in a non-conference boy girl doubleheader before opening conference play against Indianola on Friday beginning at 6:15.
